Our model at ASD Compass is to work with families and identify the child’s and family’s successes and areas of need.

Educator

At ASD Compass we use the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis to look at children’s achievements and needs and identify ways we can help them progress further. We work in the home environment as much as possible so we can address the family’s areas of concern but also operate within a gradual release framework, upskilling parents along the way. We work with families exploring how their child interacts and communicates with them. We look at their achievements and areas they need help with and want to change. We look at what they want to achieve, how it can be implemented and the steps involved to increase the likelihood of success. We work with families in their home environments and in schools to address areas of concern. These areas can be academic, social, sensory or involve gross and fine motor. We use high levels of positive reinforcement, visuals, video modeling and task analysis to teach children a variety of skills. We scaffold children’s learning and use direct instruction, teach explicitly as well as using incidental teaching as the opportunity arises. We set goals and take data against these goals to check our clients are making progress. We are very experienced in the field of Applied Behaviour Analysis, which is research based, and used by the Department of Education in its Autism Early Intensive Intervention Programs. We are funded by our clients through the use of NDIS funds. Parents can access us if they are self-managed, plan managed or wish to pay privately.
